Personalized Printable Blues Clues Party Kit Review

Time really flies quickly and my daughter just turn 3 on Dec 8. We always celebrate her birthday with my son who will be turning 8 on Dec 22, but this year we did not have the opportunity to give them a party with there favorite cartoon characters, Disney princess, etc., due to me being on bed rest.  So instead of having a party, we play the Blues Clues letter and paw print party games that I received from

My kids enjoy playing the games, my 8 year old son, 6 year old daughter and my 3 year old daughter, especially the letter party game.

I did not have the opportunity to check out the  invitations that they have, but I hope I can next time. If you’re planning to celebrate your kid’s birthday or any parties with a theme check out they have lots of commendable party themes and games for your prince and princess, teens, adults and so many to mention.

An Alphabet Trip to the Limerick Zoo Review

Review by Flydivastyles
Who doesn’t love a trip to the zoo? I know my kids love the zoo and  An Alphabet Trip to the Limerick Zoo  by Jeannette Ramirez, is  not only colorful, imaginative, fun but educational.  I'm glad to have this book for my son and daughters since they are learning the alphabet.  This is a great read-aloud lap book for parents, grandparents, and big brother or sisters.  It would be a great page turner for pre-readers or early readers.
Each page has a delightful illustration and fun facts about an animal.  An Alphabet Trip is a great  tool for  home schooling parents.  Poetry is an important part of curriculum that can be hard to integrate into the classroom or home school room.   Ramirez makes poetry fun with her zany and colorful limericks. The illustration in this book is colorful and fun.  The ABCs have never been such a treat. The “R” is ready to be memorized with the help of catchy lines like “This omnivore eats, it’s a fact, any old thing for a snack. The nocturnal Raccoon can outsmart a baboon….”
This ebook can be enjoyed in the classroom as a teacher’s resource or parents can load it on their Kindle, Nook or iPad tablet.  What a fun way for children to learn that picture books don’t always have a cover!   Home schoolers can learn technology and poetry and reading all at the same time.
Your child will enjoy 26 full color illustrations,  read 26 charming limerick poems, and learn interesting facts about 26 animals.  Don’t wait, buy  An Alphabet Trip to the Limerick Zoo  today!

How to Get Rid of Dandruff

Someone ask me the other day about "How to get rid of dandruff". I did some research plus add some of the item I use below.

What Causes Dandruff?

Technically, dandruff is a skin disorder characterized by excessive flaking of dead cells of the scalp. It will unfair to say that dandruff is caused by one particular reason because there are multitudinous reasons to dandruff, and one or the other could be the leading causes of dandruff. Dry skin, oily skin, excess use of styling products, poor diet, and stress, overuse of shampoos, yeasts infection and serious skin disorders etc are the Causes of Dandruff. As a result, the treatment approach may differ from person-to-person, and upon the nature of the cause. If you prefer doing away with dandruff naturally, you may want to know of ‘How to Get Rid of Dandruff Home Remedies

Remove Dandruff Naturally Tips

  • Make a mixture with 1 cup of olive oil and 4 drops of rosemary oil.  Apply this oil once in a week and do a hot towel treatment for some time. You would see better results with few months. Rub half a lemon on the scalp before shower. Do this once in a week for good results.
  • Tea tree oil possesses anti-septic property which is essential to get rid of dandruff naturally. Since, they are free of chemicals; you can add 3 drops of tea tree in your regular shampoo, and then wash hair using it.
  • Vinegar and Dandruff? That’s an odd combination, but the right solution to get rid of dandruff with vinegar. Believe me you won’t regret it. Dilute 1/4 c. vinegar in 1 qt. of water, and use this solution to rinse your hair.
  • Medicinal herbs have journeyed through the centuries to serve mankind with remedies for various illnesses. Rinse hair with an infusion of chaparral or thyme, and see the difference.

Questions & Answer:

Cornrowing 6 month old hair

Q: Hey Flydiva,

Hope ur good, just saw your post on 3 month and younger cornrows. Very disturbing!!

I have a 6 month old baby girl and was thinking of doing two frenchbraid/cornrows for her. More than anything to give her and me a break from detangling. She was born with a full head of hair (no bald spots) and its only gotten longer.
So do you think 6 months is still too early?

Lemme know what you think!

God bless

A: Dear Martha,

Thank you for checking out my  blog, I really appreciate it! When I saw that baby with cornrows in her hair it was and is still disturbing.

I wouldn't recommend putting cornrows in your daughter's hair till she is about 1 year old. When my daughter was your daughter's age, I would put her hair in little puffs (not w/rubber bands), but smooth bands and covered elastic bands)

Recommendation for kids use smooth bands or covered elastic bands. Rubber bands cause too much friction on the hair and can lead to breakage. It's best to avoid styles that pull the hair too tightly. Pulling on the hair can cause it to fall out, a condition known as traction alopecia.

  • Leave baby hair along (wash and moisturizing is good enough)
  • baby hair is fragile
  • If you have a baby with lots of hair, quick little ponytails are cute for your daughter (stay away from the too tight ponytails that could put her hair out)
  • flat twists is better than cornrowing (don't do it do tight)
  • regular twist
  • Braid (not too tight)
  • ponytails
  • Plaits

Please feel free to leave feed back!

Shea Moisture-Organic Coconut and Hibiscus product review

Shea Moisture Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie & Shea Moisture Shampoo

A little History
The Shea Moisture has a great story. Sofi Turcker was the creator of Shea Moisture, in 1912 Sierra Leone. At the age of 19 she was selling, "Shea Butter, Black Soap and her homemade hair and skin preparations all over the countryside"

All of Shea Moisture products are 9.99
The mist is 8fl oz and the smoothie is 12 oz
Shea Butter
Coconut Oil
Avocado Oil
Silk Protein, Neem Oil
Carrot seed Oil
Honeysuckle extract
Vitamin E
Sugar Beets
Aloe Vera Leaf Juice
All organic :)
Plus more!

This product line contains NO Parabens, Paraffin, Mineral oil, Gluten, Synthetic Color/Frangance, Sulfates.

Where to buy?

Target and WalgreensThese products are geared towards thick and curly hair.

While transitioning to natural hair moisture is the key.  You are dealing with two different textures which if not taken care of properly can result in a lot of breakage. Lack of moisture will definitely add to possible breakage.

Shea Moisture products are all natural and cost $9.99 each. While some may think that is a bit much for a product it is actually reasonable for an all natural product. Generally with Shea Moisture products a little goes a long way so on average a bottle can last 2-3 months easy. They are great for both natural and relaxed hair.

There are three lines within the collection and I have tried products in two of those lines.  Their collection is now a staple in my hair regimen. No matter how many other products I try I always end up back to Shea Moisture – and I have tried quite a few.

Shea Moisture Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie.

*Very thick-It coats my hair just like I like it. It is not runny.
*The smell is great.
*It was great for my hair it left it extremely soft.

As with most of the products in their line they can be used for many purposes. I started out using this product with twistouts. I have actually tried a few products to help define and hold my twist and always end up  back with the smoothie. Although I wish the smoothie had more of a hold, I do like my twistouts and the softness and shine this product gives my hair. I do not like the hard feeling that gels and some other products give my twists, so I much rather twists a little more often than to leave my hail feeling "crunchy". The smoothie also adds some thickness to my twist which when I still had relaxed hair was great. Since becoming completely natural I have also used this product for added moisture on a daily basis and my hair never feels dry and the smell is great! In my opinion, the only downfall to this product is the lack of hold if you are using it for twist and/or braidouts.

The Pros: Shea Moisture Shampoo

hair felt soft and buttery!

Cons: The smell kind of smells like medicine

Shea Moisture Organic Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention ShampooI recommend this product line to everyone. I can't think of anything that was wrong with Coconut and Hibiscus line. It did not leave a residue or any flaking. It is just great. If you look at the photo above you could see the mist is getting low, I used the product almost everyday :) It has protein in it so that may affect some who are protein sensitive. If you are looking for a product that will make your hair softer, smell great, great for braid/twist outs and also will bring out your natural curls then this product is for you. It is all natural and organic.

Sesame Street is at it Again! "Change the World"

An inspirational song empowering children with the idea that they can be anything they want to be!

Monday, September 26, 2011

I was browsing Youtube couple months ago and found Bronze Goddess01 channel, she posted a video for herself that's title "Motivation; "What about?"/Don't bother the Master" I was so touch, its like she was talking to me.

My husband and I are Christians, and the Lord has blessed us greatly and there is no way that I can complain. When we got married, I had a temp job, they gave me a wedding shower, I got pregnant, still at this temp job, they had a baby shower for me, I did not have to buy a lot of things for the baby. Went on maternity leave, no pay, but guess what? We made it through; I even went back to my temp job. We pray for a permanent job for me (I got it four months later at the same place were I was tempting). Praise the Lord!

I got pregnant a second time, did not know how my small car would hold my husband, my infant, my stepdaughter and another baby, guess what, we got another car by the grace of God.

We had a fire at our apartment before my second child turned 1, we did not know were we were going to live and most of our stuff was destroy by water and smoke damage, guess what, God came through for us again. I had donation pouring in from my job for my family; people who I didn’t know were giving us stuff, the blessing keep coming through for us. My father rented us the other half of his house, thank God, and we are still there today. The house is now small since I had another baby (3 children of my own + my stepdaughter whenever she comes to visit). We have been praying for a house since my last child was born, we ran out of room for my kids, they don't have anywhere in the house to play with their toys, we are always in each other way. But my husband and I kept on praying for that house. We go house hunting and everything, but it seems like it still not the right time to get into a house. Its like everybody around me is getting their house (friends and family) and we can't get ours.

Then my husband got a notice that he might have to move to another state back in January (only 3 months notice) due to his job, but guess what we are still here, we pray and agree and its now June, so we know that God has been granting us our request and that there is no way that we should have any doubt in our hearts and he is letting us know that now is not the time to jump into a house that we have to trust in him, be patient, and that he is working it out for us.

The Big CHOP!!!!

Did you do the big chop when you decided to go natural?  Are you thinking about doing the big chop?  Going natural is a big decision in itself and to add to this decision you want me to cut all my hair off…!!! Well I didn’t do the big chop even though many times I think about it . I did a mini chop but it is a personal decision whether you cut all your hair off or get it cut slowly they both can produce the same results.  I was getting my hair braided which is a decision that I made when I decided to go natural…then I started to do braid outs, and buns, etc …pictures below.

I want to hear from you all  in regards to the big chop?  Why did you do it?  Any regrets?  Anyone contemplating doing the big chop?  Let us know!!!!

Essential Oils And Carrier Oils

Here is a breakdown of Essential and Carrier Oils. Each essential oils has it's specific use:
Lavender is great for soothing the scalp and calming the hair.
Chamomile is the most soothing of the essential oils for the hair and scalp. Chamomile helps to retract skin cells that have been inflamed from chemical procedures, the sun and helps with those that have scaly scalps in including a lot of white flakes or psoriasis.
Lemon Essential oil works well for a treatment for dry scalpdandruff, lice, and under active sebaceous glands. The sebum on the hair is what keeps it from dry out. Curly hair tends to be more dry and can benefit from lemon essential oils. Be very careful to only use lemon on hair that is too oily as this can seriously dry out the hair after just one washing or rinse.
Peppermint helps to stimulate blood flow to the root of the hair. This helps the hair to receive proper nourishment and to grow correctly. Peppermint makes the scalp tingle and this is what stimulates the blood flow to the hair.
Rosemary essential oil works great for dry hair and dandruff as well as itchy scalp.
Tea Tree essential oils works to purify the scalp. It works extremely good for those that suffer from scalp psoriasis and scalp dandruff.
Always remember that you cannot use these essential oils directly on your hair, but you should mixed with carrier oils first.

Carrier Oils for Hair

Olive Oil: This oil can be combined with other nice smelling essential oils. Olive oil is especially beneficial for dry hair suffering from indoor heating and sun. The hair is nourished and will regain its elasticity after a treatment with this oil.
Jojoba Oil: Jojoba oil is great for hair that is dry or damaged and it helps to moisturize and protect hair follicles against factors that cause hair loss.
Grape seed oil: massage the scalp with grape seed oil. It is believed that this oil stimulates hair growth.
Coconut oil: To have a beautiful, shiny hair and stimulate hair growth, give yourself a scalp massage with warm coconut oil once a week.
Castor oil: Castor oil stimulates blood circulation. More blood to the scalp, resulting in more nutrients and more hair growth. It is therefore very likely to be true what they say that with the castor oil hair grows faster and more plentiful.

Eight Reasons to Go Natural

You probably have a lot of reasons for choosing to go natural. Here are a few of mine:

  1. Exposing your scalp to chemicals on a regular basis is not only bad for your hair it can be bad for your health.
  2. Once you learn to maintain your hair at home you will save money on salon visits.
  3. You have more styling options.
  4. There are many ways to wear a straight look without harming your hair.
  5. You will learn to appreciate a part of yourself.
  6. You will set example for your children that their hair is beautiful.
  7. If there was ever a time when natural hair and styles are becoming more accepted it is now.
  8. It takes less energy to embrace what you have than to fight against it.
