With summer coming to an end and fall just around the corner, there are a few things you need to do prep your skin and hair. The sun always dries up my skin and hair during the summertime and then the cool air from the fall only adds to the dryness. So you definitely want to make sure you moisturize that hair and skin from head to toe before it really starts getting cold. One of my favorite products to use is something that you can find at your local grocery store and use it to cook with or many different ways on your body. It is the ever-so-famous coconut oil! Find out more about this multitasking product when you keep reading.
I know you have heard about the million different ways you can use coconut
oil by now, but in case you haven't, then this post is for you. I am here to
tell you that it seriously does work. I love rubbing a small amount all over my
body to really get my skin looking fresh and extremely moisturized. You don't
have to use a lot to make it work. I usually put it on when I am in the shower
because unfortunately I found out the hard way that it can get a little messy
and slippery if you use too much. Plus, this way I am already in the shower, so
I don't have to clean up anything. You can either rinse it off after you have
rubbed it all over or just keep it on and get out of the shower. It will dry
within a few minutes and you smell like coconuts for the rest of the day!
You can also use coconut oil in your hair as a deep conditioner to get some
moisture back in those locks. I would only use it from the bottom of my ears
down to the ends of my hair. If you do it on your scalp, you are probably going
to clog your pores and look like a grease ball. And that look isn't very cute.
Depending on how badly your hair needs to be moisturized, I would leave it
on for anywhere between 15 minutes to overnight. I usually put my hair up in a shower
cap go do things around the house or sleep. When I wake up, I just go rinse it
out. Keep in mind it may take a while for it to completely wash away.
There is a lot of other ways to use coconut oil: as a
makeup remover, lip balm, or night cream. But all of that is for a whole other
post. So don't forget — especially since the seasons are changing — to
moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize!
So, tell me what is your fall regiment.
